UNICEF Engagement with Young Cricketers– U22 girls and boys District Cricket Championship organized by Bhutan Cricket Council Board

This event is organized with collaboration with UNICEF Bhutan and BCCB. The event is mainly to create awareness and interact with youths participating in ongoing U22 Mens & Womens District Cricket Championship 2018, Gelephu.

The Objectives of this program is to raise the concerns of youth with an aim to provide them a platform where they can discuss their issues with each other and finds the solutions of their problems, regarding different issues particularly health / reproductive health, Peace and Harmony and to exchange ideas and skills to strengthen their networking.

Popular Bhutanese singer and songwriter Sonam Wangchen to make a special appearance tomorrow on 3rd Jan, 2019.

UNICEF Bhutan Representative, Youth Ambassador and ROSA Regional Director Jean Gough

He has been announced as UNICEF National Youth Ambassador in Bhutan. The 16-year-old Sonam Wangchen is UNICEF’s first ever Bhutanese national ambassador. Born in February 2002, he is currently studying in 11th grade. He sings mostly in Dzongkha, Bhutan’s national language. His 2015 song, “choe thom da”, was a super-hit, propelling him into the limelight. Since then, Sonam has written numerous hits, performed at national events and charitable concerts, and worked on original soundtracks for movies.
