U22 Women’s District Championship 2018 – Sarpang

Bhutan is committed in developing women’s cricket on a national and International level through support of Bhutan Cricket Council Board (BCCB). BCCB has been regularly sending the teams to international competitions.

At this point BCCB is trying to develop the women’s team from grass root level, improving the domestic structure is the primary goal. At present ongoing tournament “U22 WOMEN’S DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP 2018 – SARPANG “has been organized where 5 teams from different Dzongkhags ( Sarpang, Thimphu, Paro, Punakha and Wangdue) are participating.

BCCB in collaboration with UNICEF Bhutan so-called this movement as Cricket for Good. This program has been created with aim to leveraging the vast power and reaches of cricket to positively impact the lives of children and families in Bhutan. Same time, helping participants (students) to envision and identify their dreams and goals.

At a global level, Cricket For Good in partnership with UNICEF will collaborate in specific areas of nutrition and child development, water and sanitation hygiene, quality education, empowering adolescents, child protection and child health, all aimed at improving children’s lives.

Final will be played on 4th January, 2019 here at Gelephu Higher Secondary School.
